About Adanna
Adanna is a voice born from pain but not imprisoned by it. She is a Black African woman, originally from Nigeria, who arrived in Italy after a broken journey, hard, marked by broken promises and suffered violence. Her story is that of many, but her voice is unique because she chose not to be silent. Her name is not accidental. Adanna means 'daughter of the father' in Igbo language: a name that speaks of belonging, dignity, value. A name that affirms existence before struggle itself. For her, being called Adanna means remembering every day that she was not born to be possessed, but recognized. Adanna sings in Italian, sometimes touching English and African sounds, because her identity lives between multiple worlds. Her music mixes Afrobeat, soul, urban and contemporary pop, but above all mixes truth. She doesn't sing to entertain: she sings to tell, to denounce, to liberate. Her songs speak of migration, racism, identity, rebirth, love and hope. They speak of the body as inviolable territory, of the voice as an instrument of justice, of freedom as a non-negotiable right. Every song is a step in her journey: from survival to awareness, from fear to strength. Adanna doesn't ask for compassion. She asks for listening. And when she sings, she doesn't represent only herself: she becomes an echo of all the voices the world tried to silence.
About the Album
REBIRTH is an album that doesn't ask for attention: it takes it because it exists. It is the story of one who was reduced to a number, a body, a problem, and chose to remain a voice, a name, a presence. Every song crosses physical and inner frontiers, speaks of survival without heroism, of dignity without rhetoric, of identity that does not integrate but asserts itself. Rebirth is not getting out unscathed. It is getting out whole. With dust on you, memory alive and a name carved deep enough not to be erased. This album is for those who learned to say 'I' when the world preferred silence.
